Evie had waited until after the football game to open up her presents from her parents, and was gleefully eating a cupcake as she read her mother's letter.
She stopped eating and re-read the last page with concern, then slowly went back to evaluating her presents, thinking hard.
[ooc: open! Evie is 17 today, yay. Or, you know, 107.]

The girl on the bed in room 512 awoke and stretched, yawning, and looking around with bleary eyes at all the papers and pens and scrolls and ink spread around the room. "Goodness." She tilted her head to study the other girl asleep on the window-seat, and then glanced down at herself, frowning.
"I'm Roman?"
"I'm Roman?"
I sing of warfare and a man at war.
From the sea-coast of Troy in early days
He came to Italy by destiny,
To our Lavinian western shore,
A fugitive, this captain, buffeted...
"Really, I don't think the draperies are helping," Evie told Anne suddenly, perched on the edge of her window-seat, one hand up in dramatic declamation style. "I don't feel like Virgil. Or even Emily Bronte."

Evie had awakened and gotten ready for the music festival, then checked her voice mail.
The call from Chad had been completely flail-inducing, and necessitated a call back.
The one from the Wyatt? she thought? had been worse, and necessitated *another* call.
Then she'd called Sokka because she was upset, and left a message for Warren, in case either of those boys stopped by.
Really, what a way to start a Friday.

Evie managed to sweet-talk her way into the room by patting the doorknob and telling it how shiny it was; now, she's settled into the window seat, eating biscuits and reading a history book.
There's also a Chinese screen folded up and to the side.
No, this shan't be awkward at all.

Evie had her door open, as well as her window, and was singing along with her mix CD from Jake while she read her Gods homework. Really, Ares did get around, didn't he?

Evie had her room door open, and was - for once - not writing, studying, or reading. She was trying to practice her knife-fighting skills. With a chopsticks leftover from Ching Tai.
You have to start somewhere.

Evie was carefully knocking the rainwater off her hat as she opened the door to her room. "Why don't you have a seat while I make the cocoa? I've quite mastered the microwave now."

Evie was sitting in the middle of her bed, staring at the two (very clean) mugs and the nice book of photographs on top of her desk. And trying to figure out what to do with them.

Nefertiri had been very pleased to receive Tyler's phone call and had prepared for the evening accordingly; bathing and using perfumed oils on her skin, and obtaining a small tray of fruits and juices.
Not that she expected they would be the focus of the evening. She fastened the last gold anklet around her leg, and considered her reflection in the mirror, pleased with the effect.

Nefertiri, Princess of Upper and Lower Egypt, daughter of the Pharaoah, of the line of Amon-Ra, awakened with the annoying awareness that she was supposed to attend something called 'Detention' this morning. Also, that all of her handmaidens were back in Egypt.
But being a daughter of Pharoahs meant enduring privations with stoicism. As well as promptness. Nefertiri began to prepare for her day, wondering what this 'Detention' would involve.

Evie was, because she was Evie, organizing her books: Fairy Tales and Folklore. Gods and Myths. Mystical Artifacts. And the Driver's Education Manual.
She was also dipping into them sometimes and looking slightly alarmed.
The door to 512 was open. The CD that Jake made her was playing "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree".

After a lovely time in London, and a very good New Year, Evie arrived back in Fandom with many new books, higher heels, and a determination to make this semester even better than the last.
The door to 512 was open as she went through her books, trying to decide what kind of classes she'd want to take this semester.

Evie was staring in the mirror at her new look. It was a little frightening. Well, more than a little. Which was why she was tempted to re-create it tomorrow for Jonathan before he arrived.
Humming to herself, Evie opened the shades and watched the twilight fall, wondering if Jonathan would find her *very* much changed from the Evie who had arrived over a month before. Archaeology, Flight Club, Caff-Pow! for Science-- it's been rather a quiet week.
Putting on her xTreme Blu T-shirt, Evie settled in to write a letter to her parents, leaving room for commentary from Jonathan.

Evie smoothed down her dress, and wondered if it was too old-fashioned, then went back to trying to make her hair behave while she waited for Zack.

Dear Jonathan,
Yes, I know it's been over a week since I wrote, but honestly, nothing spectacularly interesting has happened. ( Unless you count the gremlin kick-line. )My pocket money is holding out quite well, my health is good, and I'm not at all in danger of being debauched.Sadly. No one else has even turned into an animal recently!
Write back soon and finish telling me about Mustafa bin-Aled and the problem with the construction site---
Much love
from your sister,
Evie
P.S. Could you send me more of the khakis that are in storage in Cairo? It may be that I'll have need of them soon.
P.P.S. No I shall *not* be sending you the names of the horses who won the English Derby. Or the Kentucky Derby. Or the Arc de Triomphe. Don't ask me again, Jonathan. That's very annoying.
P.P.P.S. When I finally understand how the television works, I promise I shall explain it. Until then, I'm as baffled as you.
Love - ETC

Evie was organizing notes for the study group for World History. Lots of them. Highlighted. With footnotes.
She'd left the door open in case anyone really wanted to come by and ask for help. Or just distract her from it. And possibly talk her out of some other ideas she was having.
[ooc: Open for anyone, especially the Roomie. Am writing memes, responses may be a little slow]

Evie was reading her World History book and her Myth Into History notes at the same time. It made things slightly confusing, but in an amusing way. Her laptop was out and open on her desk, and the door was open.
